Learning Massage

Things you shouldnt do.JPG  Things You Shouldn't Do!

Jordan Froome used his passion for animation when asked to create a Professional Growth Project on the Regulated Health Professions Act (the Act that governs all Health Professionals in Ontario).

Interview

Recently, Massage Therapy Practice's Doug Alexander caught Jordan in a pause in the action of working two practice locations and laying hardwood floor at his home..

MTP: What was massage therapy school like for you?

Jordan: Massage Therapy School at Algonquin College was definitely the best time I have had at any school. It was very "hands on" and you got to apply all the book learning immediately. The course was really challenging overall, which I see as a good thing.

MTP: How did you arrive at the point where you decided to study massage therapy?

Jordan: I had applied to numerous different college and university programs ranging from computer animation, photo journalism, and graphic design, but never thought of Massage Therapy as a career choice until I met my soon to be wife, who was just completing her first year of the program at Algonquin.

MTP: What was the best part of being in school?

Jordan: The best part had to be the relationships that were formed between everyone; a lot of people became like family and you looked forwards to seeing them each day.

MTP: What was the worst part?

Jordan: The worst part would have to be, just as everyone in every other program has, a couple of teachers/instructor/professors that no matter what either of you do you will never get along.

MTP: How did you come to create your video?

Jordan: Although I did decide to become a RMT, I still do enjoy the arts and all its branches so I dabble in animation/graphics from time to time. For a project we were allowed a free media choice to present to the class, of course I chose animation which was more fun than it was work.

MTP: When did you graduate and what are you doing now?

Jordan: I graduated in 2006, and am currently a co-owner of Renew Massage Therapy Clinic in Kanata, a business which we have had for over a year and a half now. I also offer a few days to a clinic in Barrhaven.

MTP: What advice do you have for massage therapy students?

Jordan: Don't freak out in second year, it all comes together near the end (it's true, they are not lying) and if you are pregnant and stressed I hear that aqua aerobics is very nice. (Wink).
